My buddy with the field reported that lack of rain failed to fire off both the hay and sunflower plantings. He hasn't gone to his property yet as a result. I tried a public hunting field and have only a hyper-extended knee to show for it. Gonna wait till Wed or Thur when a cool front moves in to try another public field. I plan on scoutimg the edge of the 5,000 impoundmemt at Granger WMA for an early teal season spot (opens Sat.). Temps will be in the upper 80s for highs, instead of the upper 90s, now.
