9. Montana marches into FCS title game with OT victory over North Dakota State

MISSOULA — Last week, Montana coach Bobby Hauck described playoff overtime as "excruciating." It has also been very good to the Grizzlies.

In a Texas-sized thriller, Montana again survived overtime to punch its ticket to the FCS national championship game.

The No. 2-seeded Griz beat perennial power North Dakota State 31-23 in overtime Saturday in front of a Washington-Grizzly Stadium playoff-record crowd of 26,544 to advance to the title game for the first time since 2009.

Montana will play defending national champion and top-seeded South Dakota State for the championship on Jan. 7 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, at noon Mountain time. The game will air on ABC.
