“Cheap home security”. Lots of easy and cheap ways to keep the bad guys from even thinking about picking your home to invade. Ounce of prevention to stop them.
Shooting a buy guy can cause you wish you had found a better way. Revenge by the guys friends, hiring lawyers to start. A lot of tuff soldiers learned about a lifetime of PSTD after a defensive act that was justified.
