Women also did many risky things to abort a fetus they didn't want.

Those who would ban all abortions indulge in magical thinking if they think women will stop having abortions if they are outlawed. No, it will simply be a return to what it was like before.

I once read that half of all maternity beds in Brazil are occupied by women recovering from abortions. Which are illegal there. So the do the "back alley" thing anyway, and then wind up needing additional medical help. I do not know if that statistic is accurate.
