Clinton, Iowa. Been there before many times.

Not a stereotypically gay destination as it might be Key West, but a gay friendly state and locale.

Not much of a club scene etc, but if you like nature walks there's some spectacular scenery, including a bridge over the upper Mississippi with easy pedestrian access.

Decent restaurants. A casino, but I'm not into that.

Maybe next year (or dare I hope Labor Day).
