First, the Guardian article claims the Ferry Point golf course is valued at $269 million. That's preposterously expensive! One would be hard-pressed to find a private course that was that expensive let alone a public track. Besides, NY taxpayers paid for the course that Trump's company manages. According to the Washington Post,
One important footnote was missing, though: Trump didn’t build the course. He doesn’t own it, either. His company manages it for the city, whose taxpayers spent $127 million to sculpt it atop an old Bronx garbage dump.
Further, Trump has a well-known history of exaggerating the value of his properties:

A year before Trump announced his candidacy, I was invited to play in a golf outing at Ferry Point. The views of NYC were fantastic!
The course was nice enough but it was loaded with gimmicks that made it kind of silly. For example, there were many holes that had hidden collection areas behind the greens. This would be acceptable if they had a yardage guide (map) or signs on the tee boxes to illustrate the hole. I guess if you play there a few times, you'd know about these features but it'll cost you a lot of money.
Another goofy feature is that some of the fairways are lined with ant hill-like mounds a couple of feet tall that are covered with long grass. If your ball misses the fairway, count those mounds carefully because you will not find your ball among the identical mounds.
Most obnoxious, however, was a par-3 that had a large bronze plaque stating that Trump got a hole-in-one on the inaugural round. It smelled like bullshit. I've played a lot of golf in and around New York and one of my buddies who works at a Long Island course told the true story: When Trump got his so-called ace, there were about a dozen holes cut in the greens so the groundskeepers could learn how the holes would play. Trump's tee shot did not go into the hole with the flag stick in it. It went into one of the auxiliary holes. I know you'll be shocked to learn that Trump lied.
In short, there were numerable features that made the course somewhat unfair and at over $250/round, ridiculously expensive for a public course. And since Trump is involved, they will never get another penny of my money.
