3. I think it's interesting, although I would have put some brightly colored lights on it.

I have a couple of friends who insist on a "live" tree every year. One friend got really mad at me when I pointed out that once the tree is cut, it's no longer live. It's kind of sad, after Christmas, to see all these "live" trees sitting out at the curb with the garbage.
