3. "Home of the potato" -- not really Ireland

As you probably know, potatoes were introduced into Ireland in the late 1500s. Potatoes are originally from South America and were brought to Europe by Spanish and other explorers. Lore has it that Raleigh/Drake brought the potato to England and Ireland.
