with Mussolini, Hitler, Franco (scary). In fact many countries lacking democracy have always had fascism- ME states like Quatar, SA countries- means oligarchy, military, very small upper professional class of doctors, clerics, merchants who serve the upper class, and a huge lower class. Caste system sorry to say.

I'll never live long enough to hear any official comment on the mid-1930s (fascist) plot to supplant FDR by major US industrialists including Prescott Bush and involving Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler who was asked to assist but declined and wrote the seminal work, "War is a Racket" (1934).

Author Sinclair Lewis also laid out a fascist take over in his 1936 book, "It Can't Happen Here", ie when fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a Bible. It was many decades before I learned about these events and writings.

Very disturbing to learn of these attempts to suppress health care and punish govt. workers in WV. Shocking. Like people being put in jail for collections debt-- traffic ticket fines, truancy penalties, past due credit- mainly for the revenue. This wasn't happening 10 or 25 years ago. It's neoliberal economics of brutality and profit at any cost, with little to no regulation, oversight or intervention.
