This is a man who gave almost total support to the NRA for his whole political career. But he threw supporters under the bus to get himself on the Sunday talk shows. By going against gun owners, he made himself unelectable in West Virginia. He does not plan to run for re-election after his current 6 year term has expired.

He is an ambitious man who now seeks to gain more prominence and approval on the national stage. You might support a thing or two that he does. But if it suits him, you'll find yourself and your favorite issue under the bus too.
