4. In Texas, voters do register party affiliation.

For primaries, voters may select to vote in either party's primary election. However, voters do not select a party affiliation. A Texas voter's registration card may be stamped DEMOCRATIC or REPUBLICAN, but this is to help prevent the voter from then voting in the other party's primary. Again, this is not registration.

This system has been in effect for decades.
