As a college government instructor, I feel compelled to let you know that this doesn't prevent squat diddly. This is merely a senatorial courtesy.

As a Texan, I feel compelled to note that neither senator from this state has much familiarity with the concept of courtesy. The best way to demonstrate this courtesy to them is by holding the door on their way out of office.
