1. We stayed overnight last night in a hotel near Portland

Sunday

A marked absence of staccato machine gun fire, mortar thumps and artillery explosions. There was a group of elderly ladies who appeared to be part of an organization hanging around the breakfast room.

Slept 9 hours straight.
