I only took up watercolors relatively recently and have a long way to go. It's such a difficult medium to work in. I do much better with acrylics.

Encourage your wife to make art. My wife was a printmaking major in college and pretty much quit making art right after college. She got into banking and then insurance to make a living. But she's still way better than I am which I witnessed recently when we both signed up for a free drawing class at our local library. Hopefully this will encourage her to get back into making art.

I'm self taught and am a terrible renderer. I luck out once in a while with a painting.
