All he needs is a good brand of litter, the proper box to cat ratio, and someone to clean the boxes at least every other day.

Hmmm - I'm thinking of a great part-time business opportunity for the couch-locked teenager in your family - Cat box cleaning service.

You'll need:
A Costco Account
Car
A cleaning "cart" where you have -
covered trash can
two/three types of slotted spoons and metal spatulas, wire brush(?)
Gloves and disposable face masks.
Baking soda
Febreeze
Several types of kitty litter on hand depending on customer preferences and number/types of cats in the household.
A selection of kitty litter box liners
Trash bags - lots
Nature's Miracle stain and odor remover (for any carpets)
Basic pet-safe cleaning gear (rags, cleaner)
First aid kit (if there's some angry kitties)
and finally -
a Heavy Duty Dust Buster (battery operated) with the Car charger.

And the usual business book-keeping/software sort of stuff so you can schedule, bill, find customers addresses, that sort of thing.
