It's WAY too long, the cinematography is overrated, the story thread is very sympathetic to the slave owning south (so many victims), the acting is overwrought & melodramatic in many spots.
I saw it for the first time in a HS film class. 40 minutes each day until the whole thing was done.
Hated it 55 years ago. No interest in ever seeing it again.
Your decision to keep your record in tact is wise!
