7. My friend was widowed in early May 2021

and she finally received her first direct deposit this month--9 months later--reflecting the change in her SS benefits. She went round and round with them.

When I was widowed in 2018, the change in my benefits hit my direct deposit before 3 months were up and one month of that time was waiting for my then required in person appointment at the SS office.

There could be three things affecting the review process: decrease in staff from previous Administration; closed offices because of the pandemic; backlog of cases due to the increase in case load from the higher death rate of SS recipients due to Covid.
