What's wrong with Stephen Stills' voice? (self.Music)

submitted 2 years ago

I just saw Stephen Stills live, and it was almost unbearable to watch. He slurred, had a raspy nearly tone-deaf sound, and even when he spoke it was a mess. i tried to look up the answer but neither his wikipedia nor any reliable source had an answer. Impediment? Stroke? Something else?

He's actually been suffering a congenital hearing loss, that has been degrading since he was nine years old. I think this is the main cause of how he sounds today. He's using dual hearing aids to perform these days.
