It certainly explains why the Russians tried to build a pontoon bridge three times in the wrong place and got blown up every time. I said that the decision had been made above the general level and I was right, poor bastards on the ground didn't have a chance.

WWI was a direct cause of the 1917 revolution, but not until high prices caused by so much of the country's funds going to the military effort caused food hardship. Right now, Russians have seen a drop in formerly high prices, especially in grain based goods, probably thanks to the grain Russia has looted. It's not going to last, nothing will be harvested in the Donbas region this year but dud ordinance.

Putin would do well to consult his history books, and I don't mean the rubbish written by that imperialist lunatic Dugin.
