1. Vindman is correct - the position of the German Govt (Olaf Scholz to be exact) is irrational

His view is not representative of the German people and anyone I speak with in my circle of friends and family. Same for much of the political and government representatives in the Green, FDP, CDU/CSU, and it is increasingly embarrassing and making him look weak and ineffective. The coalition of the SPD/FDP and Green that put him in power is looking weaker.

On Friday I was watching the satirical comedy show that is like a Daily Show, reporting on Scholz and they were spot on in mocking him and his position. Watching the nightly news and seeing the leaders of the various parties speaking firmly in support of sending more aid and specifically heavy artillery to Ukraine. Baerbock the Aussenminister Green Party (Secretary of State) is in my eyes and many others very strong and more of a leader in her shared coalition power as the #2 and Christian Lindner FDP is also coming out supporting sending heavy artillery and support.

It’s really not good. Depending on what happens in France today in their election and whether Scholz finds his spine and courage and intelligence to do the right thing, I seriously worry about what is ahead .

Russia has to be defeated and Germany needs to be strong and supportive and understand the future for them and democracy rides in the balance and making sure Ukraine survives and defeats the Russians is the key to preventing disaster. Not being passive and thinking it’s best to not upset the Bear.
