1. I think that there is reason to be afraid of DeSantis.

If Trump, for any number of reasons, can not run, DeSantis will probably fill the spot. Republicans elected Trump to office, then they will send anyone to represent them. Until someone sticks a fork in DeSantis, he is not done.
