the restrictive legislation they are cramming into every legislative session. They did it to provide the appearance of possible fraud, not to find it.

Just as the repeated, though failed, legal challenges to the election were a springboard to support Trump's claims of stolen elections to make it appear as if there were reasons to overturn them.

Politics is as much, if not more so, about the apparent perception of reality as it is the genuine consequences of that reality. Facts may influence this but context can be far more powerful.
