We'll celebrate the extension of the Great Russian Empire and the Triumph of the Russia Idea, forged in the fires of late 19th and early 20th century nationalism. Why, I downloaded my copy of Russkaya idea by Berdyaev just yesterday and plan on a comprehensive reading of the Scythian movement and Smenovekhovtsy poets in the very near future.

Because, well, they're just so darned good, we're just so darned bad (not us per se, but those loathsome things that we are forced to live in the same country with, without our superior understanding of international law and proper human rights under majoritarianism).

Of course, it also justifies focusing on our navel and doing nothing, while congratulating ourselves on helping to defeat the swimming dogs and fat sharks of world neo-corporatism. Swimming cats? Running sharks? All those dehumanising metaphors we so love get confusing. I know--sharks of imperialism and running dogs of capitalism, carefully trained by fat cats (which, in early Soviet propaganda, were always Jewish and accompanied by stereotypically-featured Jewish lackeys by the way ... not that anti-Semitism Russian-style is anything like anti-Semitism fascist style).

Did you hear the latest? Venice is having an independence referendum. Done it accordance with Western norms and without troops. Gotta be a sham, some way of helping to exploit the rich oil and gas results under Venice and otherwise enslave the population and their silly false consciousness.
