In reply to the discussion: Venezuelan protest overrun by government forces. [View all]happyslug
(14,779 posts)94. There is something wrong with that picture.
According to an autosomal DNA genetic study conducted in 2008 by the University of Brasilia (UNB) the composition of Venezuela's population is: 60.60% of European contribution, 23% of Amerindian contribution and 16,30% of African contribution.

For comparions the US is 72.4% "White":
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_the_United_States
In simple terms, Venezuela is MORE diverse then is the US, yet those picture shows overwhelming "White" protesters. Venezuela is only 3/5 White, while the US is almost 3/4 white (The white percentage in the US is expected to drop, but it is still almost 75% as of the 2010 Census.
Another way to look at it, is the USA today is 25% more white then Venezuela (15 percentage point is 1/4 of the white percentage in Venezuela or the US has 25% more whites as a percentage of its population then does Venezuela).
Where are the non-whites in those protests? In the first photo the two on the left look more "Mexican" then the rest, but if you look behind them, all of the other protesters look like the protesters in the Right part of the Photo (I use the term "Mexican" for the two protesters on the left could pass as Mexican to someone like me, who is white, thus is probably why they are up front in the Photo, like GOP Photo opts with their one or two African Americans up front, but everyone behind them a white or white then I am. the protesters made sure the least "white" looking were up front to show, like the GOP does with African Americans, that the protesters are note 100% white).

Iraq is part of a regional war now, I think. There are two power blocks at war for control.
