so, they didn't vote.

I say this from the experience of coming from a large extended family that thought this way because they felt disenfranchised. Which is how many politicians wanted them.

The sincerely caring politicians are kept out of the club by the establishment (MONEY).
Give the people false hope to get their vote and then ignore them. That's the appeal of Bernie and AOC, sincerity. Their spots don't change.
