Congress is the guardrail that keeps a rein on the president, but they have to be there, even pro forma. This is the first time the House has stayed out during a govt shutdown and Trump is using it to tighten his grasp of unitarian power.
I wonder what role republicans in Congress think they'll hold in an American dictatorship? And the Supreme Court as well? The whole point of a dictatorship is removal of red tape to get things done. A dictator needs neither the legislative nor judicial branches to get in his way.
When Kim Jong Un wants to build a nuke plant, he doesn't ask permission or check with the EPA, he orders it done and construction begins immediately. Much like tearing down the White House for a grand ballroom, or starting a war.
