He doesn't understand that they're not just characters on a television screen playing a role when he needs them. They need access to markets for their products and Trump is alienating the countries that were their markets. They also need their migrant workers. Americans aren't going to do those jobs for the money they want to pay. There's a cost to Trump's racism.
