Actually "most" of their civilian grade weapons come from the US, most of their military grade weapons are stolen from the Mexican military/Police.

Although even if they got zero US weapons it wouldn't slow down their acquisition of weapons as they already have worldwide smuggling routes.
If you can smuggle tons of drugs firearms aren't any harder.
