There are indeed similar keyboard methods on Windows PCs, and no doubt smartphones too. And when you copy-and-paste from an article, the accents appear fine - in the DU "title box" and the "text box". But when you submit it to DU, DU strips out accented characters in the title box (this appears to be from the security measures taken after the 2016 hack of DU - what annoys me is the DU software happily allow emojis - which are more unusual characters than accented letters - in titles, but balks at the accents, which are harmless).
