In Communist countries like China, "the state" (as in "the national government" ) owns designated infrastructure with relatively little "private ownership", supposedly on behalf of "the people"

THAT is what distinguishes the U.S. from much of the rest of the world - the phenomena of so much "private ownership" here in the U.S., whether by individuals or businesses.
