Highlighting from the article::
"I think were a pretty broken brand right now, and some of the people on the left dont want to go through that hard rewrite of what the Democratic Party stands for.
Whats at the core of the brokenness, if we can be specific?
Well, we have become the status-quo party, and so we have reverted to defending democracy instead of explaining how we are going to break it down and reform it. We have not been a pugilistically populist party, where we name the people who have power and we build very easy-to-understand solutions about how to transfer power to people who dont have it. And then were a pretty judgmental party, filled with a dozen litmus tests. We dont let you in unless you agree with us on everything, kind offrom gender rights to reproductive rights to gun control to climate.
Weve got to be a party that invites people in as long as they agree with us on the basic economic message, and build our party with a little bit more acceptance of people who have diverging views on social and cultural issues."
This article has far more than this critique by Sen Murphy. Take a look at the ongoing discussion here:

Could he even get re-elected Governor if he was eligible?! Somehow I doubt it.

Gavin was sposed to be a "Super Pol." I liked him but he's now holdin the back of the line of potential 2028 candidates.

I know I'm done with him... ZERO chance he gets the 2028 nomination, at least not for the Democratic Party!!

That's not what he's saying. It's the public's attitude toward the party he's talking about.

Our leaders, if they were smart, would be speaking of nothing but our strengths.

Agreed, the only way I'd vote for him at this point is if he pulls off a MIRACLE to become our party's nominee in 2028.

As a Californian, I'm disappointed. Appeasement is not the way forward; resistance is the way forward.

Gavin Newsom is a "Toxic Sellout". I expect him to announce he is a Repug any day now.

If Bush was actually quoted as saying it, the Times is likely to report it. There's nothing wrong there.

I read a title from a post that said he found common ground with Charlie Kirk....

I'd like some specific examples of this "talking down to" and judgementalism that isn't equally egregious on the right

Why post something like this? It does not help Democrats at all and it just feeds the trolls that hate them.
