In reply to the discussion: Mar-a-Lago judge wants to hear more from the state and the defense about unlawful appointment and funding of Jack Smith [View all]Miguelito Loveless
(5,263 posts)49. Hadn't she done just that?
Now when she finally rules on Smith's request to gag TSF from lying about the FBI using lethal force on TSF, and if she denies Smith's request then she will be gone.
If I had a dollar for every time a legal analyst here or on the news posted that Cannon "had crossed the line", and Smith would file to get her removed, I could retire comfortably in another country.
The DOJ's refusal to go after president's predates this affair, and goes right back to their "Nixon rule", made up out of whole cloth, that you can't indict a sitting president. Trump argued at his impeachment that he couldn't be convicted unless convicted of an actual crime in criminal court. Now that he faces such a penalty, he argues that he can only be punished with a conviction after impeachment. All while arguing that he immune from the law, that he can even assassinate political rivals, and the only option to punish him would be impeachment.
This argument is being seriously considered by the bought and paid for SCOTUS, who handed Trump a massive victory by simply agreeing to hear the case. I am very worried about the next election as I don't see how we can stop Trump from seizing power, even if he loses badly.

OP
It's a delay tactic from the defense, and the loose cannon picked up the thread

I think they'll find some excuse to toss the case back to the lower court for further review.

Right, it's a shoot the messenger deal, like Fani Willis. Nothing to do with the evidence or the case

And she is no doubt getting help from Leonard Leo's friends who got her the appointment to start with.

I wouldn't want anyone else besides Jack Smith in charge of prosecuting this case,
