OMAHA, Neb. —
Republican Pete Ricketts announced Wednesday morning that he is officially running for the U.S. Senate in 2024.
The former Nebraska governor was appointed in January 2022 to replace Ben Sasse, who resigned to become the president of the University of Florida.
"We’re in a battle for our nation’s future. The stakes have never been greater. It’s going to take conservative courage to keep America strong, prosperous, and free," Ricketts said in his campaign announcement on social media.
Ricketts' current term extends through Jan. 2025.
