It's always made me wonder why the Dems didn't gerrymander a bit more aggressively before they had the independent commission. It makes little sense to have districts in NYC that Dems win by almost 70 points, and then we lose those districts on Staten Island and Long Island.

I know we're supposed to "hate" gerrymandering, and I do, in principle. But when the other side has no principles, it makes little sense for Dems to try to take the high road.
