He would be an O-5 and that's a very livable pension if he's fully retired.
In the Navy you would be required to have your Masters to make 0-5. But being in the Air Force, they may require even higher education.
He'll probably still get to keep his pension unless he was convicted of crimes relating to criminal disloyalty to the United States: espionage, treason, sabotage, etc.
His ex wife turned him in. She's probably getting half his pension since they were married for 18 years.
