The cliff's just a few more inches away. I think tomorrow, there will definitely be a schism in the GOP party with the moderates and rationals leaving to join the Democratic party. The GOP will become a shadow of its former self, run by a bunch of crazed, rabid yokels. In time, the Democratic party will split with a liberal side and a center-right side, both with some semblance of rationality (they both would agree on global warming, but may disagree on how to best combat it, but will only use scientists and economists to debate out the better policy position, rather than demagogues). I expect that in the next 16 years.
