The Republicans are very good at stall tactics, so it takes years to get what should take months.
In this case, time is of the essence. There needs to be action sooner than later.
If we can't block this guy now, he'll be reelected and then it will take a conviction to get him out of Congress. With appeals, and possibly a change of leadership in the White House, it might not ever happen.
