terms of affection. It can be comforting, esp. to those of use who did not grow up hearing them a lot from their parents, I love hearing them from men or women (depending on context of course--it's more common for older people to use them). These terms are not automatically sexist or harassing. Nor is touching someone on the back, etc. It depends on the intent of the person doing it.
