Fauci and CDC said in March that "at THIS time" (emphasis mine) masks were not necessary for the general population. In April, based on evolving biomedical understanding of the virus, they changed that recommendation to cloth (not N-95) masks. Wingnut complaints about masking went into arrested development in March, if they ever developed at all.
