The CDC is not a hotbed of hair-on-fire panic and woo. Their primary job is not to react to outbreaks, epidemics and pandemics, but to stay ahead of them and prevent them if they can. If they're telling you to throw your romaine lettuce out, THROW YOUR ROMAINE LETTUCE OUT.
