In reply to the discussion: Sanders fails to oust Clinton backers from convention roles [View all]MADem
(135,425 posts)47. Don't be quite so sure about that. Federal investigators in Burlington may
want to talk to him about his alleged inappropriate influence on a certain multi-million dollar People's United Bank loan.
Of course, there's probably nothing to it at all, nothing to see, move along, now, and Bernie doesn't have to worry about being charged with leaning on a bank president to give a loan to his wife--a bank president, fwiw, who won't answer questions about this from the press...but, hey, so long as there's an "investigation" out there, it's fair game, n'est pas? And of course, US Attorney Eric Miller will neither confirm nor deny if he's investigating the Senator--but he hasn't DENIED, now, has he?
I mean, that's the way DU has been playing these accusations, right? Innuendo, suspicions, "some people say?" There's not much in the way of "presumption of innocence" here when it comes to SOME candidates, is there?
I've seen dozens of posters on this site leap on Trey Gowdy's comments like they're dispositive, and eagerly cite some of the most disgusting and odious right wing sources without batting an eye, because anyone who gets annoyed about things like that is just being "partisan."
And hey, so many people here are "post partisan"--they don't care about the "establishment" Democratic Party so much, any more, so it's all good, yes?
The shoe sometimes will pinch like hell on the other foot. But when Vermont Public Radio and 7 Days--both of which have given Sanders Very Favorable Coverage down the years--bother to pick this story up and report on it, maybe, just maybe, one has to ask "Where there's smoke, is there a bit of fire?"
Ouch.

She is NOT under investigation. Sanders doesn't bring it up because he knows it's not true.

Elizabeth Warren LOVES Barney Frank. I guess that makes her a corporate sell-out, too?

You attack Barney Frank but never refute what he actually says. Proof is in the pudding.

There is a difference between voting with Democrats or being a Democrat and running the party.
