3. The problem is his lawyers have asked for a delay

His lawyers requested the trial moved back to gather more evidence. It was granted.

He requested permission to fire his lawyers. It was granted.

A trial date was going to be set this year. His lawyer said that was not enough time since he was new to the case. It was granted.

I think the defendant deserves every shot at a fair trial, and at the same time, if they are requsting delays, I'm not sure what you do.

The state is ready to make a case, the defendant is not. Do you force them to have a trial this year, then if the defendant loses, they can try to get a mistrial by claiming there was not enough time to prepare.
