You might end up being more right in your condemnation of the actions of the man on the scene, but even then I could not set aside my respect for the bravery and good intentions, and competence as far as it went, of that man who inserted himself coolly and deliberately into a very dangerous scene.
One thing I'm wondering about are the right and duty of an EMT to disarm a police officer during an event. Why didn't the other officers do that? Another is that this EMT may have felt he did have the ability to differentiate between a panic attack and a psychotic break, or whatever other alternative there might have been. If I knew more, I expect there might be more. Or less. Perhaps this precise situation is in the EMT procedures manual.
