There is no law that says that a parent who commits a crime will have their parental rights terminated. And it would be a catastrophe if there was.
MKL needed to be punished for her actions. A prison sentence was that punishment. Her children did not deserve to be punished further by being denied access to their mother.
The mother of the boy she violated brought the children she bore from him to visit her in prison. The boy was not allowed to see her until he turned 18 and asked that the restraining order be lifted. So his mom made sure that her grandchildren saw their mom and got to receive her love.
I am not in any way defending MKL's actions. They were wrong. But children have a right to a relationship with their parents, even ones who have done bad things.
