But we don't. I remember hitting sixth grade and realizing my friends had been having sex over the summer. Everybody got hormones around fifth grade and started developing. I remember the case because I was his age and in the same grade. One of my friends got pregnant in sixth grade and had her baby before we graduated. Her mom adopted him. Her baby daddy was in eight grade. That's why 12 year olds are not considered children for the purposes of sexual activity in the same way a six year old is. It's still rape and still wrong, it is just labeled differently.
