My ex husband is seriously dyslexic. At least one high school teacher said he'd never get to college -- this was in the 1960s when it was pretty common to "diagnose" such kids as maladjusted and/or below normal IQ. He ended up with a Master's Degree.

Anyhow, you wouldn't say such things about people on the autism spectrum. Would you?
