General Discussion
In reply to the discussion: It has been two years...two long years, but I did it. Today is my 2 year Smokefree Anniversary! [View all]worked for me. Smoked for almost 40 years. Had cut down from a pack a day over the years, but the last 8 or so a day weren't going away and I didn't really have a lot of motivation to stop. Tried vaping and it worked, but I feared that if I couldn't vape I'd be right back to smoking. About 4 months in I realized I could take it or leave it. Two years later it's gone. I want a cig every now and then, but not enough to light up. In that time I've smoked 4 cigarettes - when I go visit a friend's grave at Christmas and Easter. We used to smoke, so I go have a cigarette with him. I enjoy it, but it's a conscious decision, not a compulsion. I've had a couple upsets in the past year and smoking hasn't even entered my mind.
My advice with vaping is don't smoke and vape. I've noticed that people who don't have luck with vaping often smoke and vape as a way of cutting back. The vape will hold you if you use enough nicotine and don't see falling back on a cig as a possibility.
