In reply to the discussion: Melissa Harris-Perry’s Email to Her Staff (This is Absolutely Shocking) [View all]LovingA2andMI
(7,006 posts)I knew or felt this would happen to her. She is not the Black Face that MSNBC wanted this year. Joy Ann Reid is. Her Face is Blacker and She is Willing to STILL play the game. Along with Rachel Maddow for that matter. MSNBC is no longer a "Liberal" or "Progressive" Network. That is why Ed Schultz was shown the door and Melissa Harris Perry is being shown the door as we speak.
Plus, if Melissa Harris Perry would dare question ANY of the materials that Black Lives Matters Activist Ashley Williams has put out on Hillary Clinton -- that would be MORE of a reason to not let her at the mic. This is MHP's style -- to question police, law enforcement, policy and ethnic relations as it relates to African-Americans and/or Minorities in Particular. Knowing that - she would have Ashley Williams on her show AND give her a fair interview. Debbie Wasserman Schultz or Hillary Clinton will not allow that to happen -- thus she is silenced.
Rachel Maddow meanwhile knows where her bread is buttered. Maddow never did shit to stop Keith Olbermann's boot from the Network even though SHE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN on MSNBC without him. Neither will she stand up for MHP despite the FACT MHP have on many occassions Co-Hosted her show. It is a case of whose ice water is colder here.
The best thing MHP can do is ride out her Contract with Comcast/NBC Universal. With Barack Obama leaving in January 2017 -- MSNBC do not have to "play nice" to any more "Black Folks" or need "Black Folks That Don't Play Ball" on their So-Called Liberal Network. That is the way it is.
I MIGHT feel worse for MHP if she would have stood up when folks in Detroit was BEGGING HER to cover the Water Shut Offs in 2013-2014 -- but she ignored it and the story -- but she's no novice. MHP knows how the game is played and know full well her time is almost up.
Maybe RT (Russia Today) will take her. Maybe Not. Either way, she better start seeking her next gig on TV outside of teaching as the bell is about to tow on her show and MSNBC.
Maybe she should call Goldie Taylor to find out how to survive after being dumped by the so-called "Liberal" Network.
