(10,472 posts)I'm voting for Bernie, and honestly don't know if I'll bother to vote if Hillary is the Dem in the general. I check in to DU now and then just to keep somewhat informed, but almost every time I do, I regret it.
For one thing, usually the only replies I get are from people who really, vehemently disagree with me and are nasty about it. I tend to respond to nasty with more nasty, then feel bad about it. It was nice today that almost every reply I received was one of camaraderie and/or humor.
Overall, I think I just need a break from politics. The inherent dishonestly, the money, the corporate media control of the story (that's where a great many US citizens still get their info). The fact the Donald Trump is so popular. Seeing DU take a such rightward turn.
Even worse, the level of discussion just seems to have sunk. Poor logical thinking skills run rampant. Many people are responding to arguments for and against candidates by taking offense at "being told how to vote." Last time I checked, discussing politics--the raison d'etre for DU--naturally involves a lot of saying why voting for particular candidates is a good or bad idea. Don't participate in a political discussion board if that offends you.
Sorry, I seem to be ranting and rambling. Time to go do something else! Have a great weekend.
