3. Cats know

We had a cat- really my wife's - who marginally tolerated me. The stupid cat even attacked me when I came home late and everyone was sleeping. As I walked down the dark hall to go to bed, the beast leapt out of the bathroom and wrapped itself around my leg with his claws claiming my thigh. My screams woke the family. Anyway, after an operation later that year, as I laid down on the bed that cat jumped up on the bed (I feared the worst and I was in no condition to fight it), put his head down on my still bandaged incision and purred. That was the only kindness he ever showed to me, but I still miss the little bastard to this day.
